On opening my first blog 'Cafe Benedict', I was wondering what I could write about in this internet space. I do not have expert knowledge or special taste to fill this blog. I do not have insightful eyes to capture the world and influence others, either. Once I heard we can only give to others what we already have. So, if I do not have enough knowledge, taste, and insight, it is impossible to create a blog attractive to the eyes of other people.
The reason I dare to open this blog, though, is because I would like to record and express little ripples in my mind which are stirred by small things in life. So that I could give myself a chance to reflect. Those ripples would evaporate like a morning dew unless written or told somehow.
When I visited Battambang in Cambodia, I went out to the city on a bicycle. Battambang city was the centre of the French colonial rule in the past. Near the central market area, I could see some old buildings in a french style. The city has no proper traffic lights. Various vehicles came and went on their own traffic system. At first, I was a bit scared to wade through the tides of 'disordered' traffic. But soon afterwards, I could see the order disguised in a disorder and freely make a turn left or right.
It was such a refreshing moment to ride a bicycle. It's been quite a while since I rode a bicycle. I love to ride a bicycle. You cannot speed up on a bike as if you drive a car with engines. But you can move faster on it than when you just walk on your two feet. Should I call it 'a comfortable speed'?
The articles in this blog will be stories in my life. Those stories are my own personal reflections which are not so special but also very special as if the world you see on a bike are nothing special but something special.
